An inclusive platform, Beacon will celebrate the creativity of students with exuberant & quieter voices who see Media as a beacon to illuminate the unique stories within them & illuminate the stories that need to be told – shedding light on new perspectives.
Each year, Beacon: UBC Journal of Media Studies will select and feature the most ambitious multimedia works produced by current undergraduate students in the unique Media Studies program at the University of British Columbia.
Each work, that will engage digital culture and offer new perspectives on media will be reviewed and collaboratively decided upon by a group of esteemed student editors and faculty in the Bachelor of Media Studies program, assembling a journal of innovative and thought-provoking works in the field of Media.
Your work will not only be showcased in Canada’s first peer and faculty-reviewed undergraduate online multimedia journal about Media Studies, you’ll have the opportunity to have it published in UBC cIRcle, making your work indexed by high-profile search engines and assigned with a DOI. Published creators will also be invited to the inaugural Beacon Publication Launch party to mingle with other creators, faculty, and share your work!
To submit your work, please review the Submission Guidelines. The submission deadline for the inaugural edition of the UBC Journal of Media Studies is January 14, 2020 11:59pm. Late submission will not be accepted or reviewed.
