As a Bachelor of Media Studies student, you will have access to a BMS-specific advisor who has in-depth knowledge of and experience with the BMS degree requirements and student experience.
BMS Advising
The BMS has a team of academic advisors within Arts Academic Advising Services who have developed particular familiarity with the BMS degree and the many opportunities of interest to BMS students.
BMS advisors can help with course planning and mapping out how particular opportunities would affect degree completion – but financial and immigration questions should be directed to the appropriate central offices (see below).
If you would like to set up a virtual advising appointment with a BMS Advisor, please email us at bms.advisor@ubc.ca.
Arts Academic Advising
Arts Academic Advising supports the academic success of the Faculty’s 14,000 undergraduate students
From the point of admission, Arts Academic Advising provides programs and services to help you make informed and thoughtful decisions about your academic path throughout your degree program.
Apply for academic concession
If you face unanticipated difficulties that prevent you from completing a course to the best of your ability, you may qualify for academic concession. Submitting an application for academic concession will connect you with an academic advisor who will help you determine what you might be eligible for and what course of action can help you get back on track without impacting your permanent record.
Specialized supports, such as the Centre for Accessibility and SVPRO, provide additional avenues of confidential support in certain circumstances.
