For first year students: Need help with your writing? Looking for first-hand knowledge about your upcoming assignments in ASTU?
The BMS peer mentors are holding a session all about ASTU and Academic writing! Led by two of your peer mentors Claire and Hui, they have been working hard to organize a great mentorship session packed with helpful tips (such as how to find relevant/strong sources for your essays!) and information on the topic of “ASTU: Academic Writing Session, and Study Tips.” They will share tailored tips about your current and upcoming assignments for both professors (including looking ahead to Term 2) in ASTU. We will cover:
Academic Writing Guidelines
- Overview and hints for ASTU assignments (Critical Summary, Lens Analysis, etc.)
- Study hacks and productivity maximization ideas to overcome procrastination
Claire and Hui have also designated a Q&A segment in their session to answer your specific questions about both sections of ASTU. If you already have questions about ASTU or study tips, please submit your questions through the form (https://tinyurl.com/y2mqxh7u) by Friday, Oct 22 so that your mentors can prepare for them beforehand and answer them at the session.
Or as always, please feel free to just come out to the session and hear what your peers have asked and what your mentors will share. It is a great way to connect with your peers, upper-year BMS students, and BMS community.
Don’t miss out on this special session on ASTU and study tips, see you all there!
Location: On Zoom (Zoom details have been sent to your email. Please email arts.mediastudies@ubc.ca if you didn’t receive it to retrieve the link to join the session.)
