Dr. Jillian Lerner specializes in nineteenth-century visual culture, with an interest in print, photography, and technologies of seeing. Along with articles in Grey Room, History of Photography, Oxford Art Journal, and The Art Bulletin, she is the author of two books, Graphic Culture: Illustration and Artistic Enterprise in Paris, 1830-1848 (2018) and Experimental Self-Portraits in Early French Photography (2021).

Jillian Lerner currently teaches ARTH 227: What is Modern Art? and ARTH 480: Visual and Digital Media Theory in the BMS program.
