Inside, you’ll find students’ inquisitive, timely, and moving multimedia media that we hope will enlighten and be a beacon in your life – especially during this unprecedented time.
It has been a labour of love by the Beacon student journal team, and we hope you will enjoy these thought-provoking pieces that shine a light on new perspectives in media. The range of work – original piano compositions, public service announcement, dismantling imperial archives, study of the Anthropocene, digital photography, and questioning mainstream ways of knowing is a testament to the quality of work produced by undergraduate students at UBC, and demonstrates how media teaches and inspires, but is also a place of transformation, activism and resistance.
